The second annual PGA McGladrey Team Championship is an exciting
nationwide amateur championship managed by the PGA of America. It
brings together amateur golfers and PGA Professionals for a one-of-a-kind
grassroots competition. The championship reflects the kind of achievement
we strive to make with all of our clients.
The PGA McGladrey Team Championship features a series of Local
Qualifying Events, 41 PGA Section Championships held between April and
September and a National Championship field of 41 four-person teams
October 20 – 22 at Pinehurst (NC) Resort. Local Qualifying Events are
open to men and women of all ages and playing abilities who have an
established handicap.
The Championship consists of three rounds: Local Qualifying Events,
Sectional Championships, and the National Championship. Local Qualifying
Events begin in January and run through August. Winning teams at Local
Qualifying Events progress to Sectional Championships which are
scheduled between April and September. At the Sectional level, teams are
joined by The PGA Professional from their local club to make a team of
four. Finally, from October 20 - 22, the 41 Sectional Champion teams
converge on Pinehurst’s Course Nos. 2, 4, and 8 for the National
Championship.

Local Qualifier
Format
One round (18 holes), best one net ball of three players. Teams of three
amateurs will compete at their host PGA Professional’s club. Each amateur

Application of Handicap
Amateurs will receive 50% of their handicap allowance adjusted for the

handicap stroke index. The team must use each player’s score on a
minimum of three (3) holes.

provide the host PGA Professional with their most recent handicap

their handicap.
